Terms & Conditions

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors, please read & agree to the following terms and conditions

Workshop Time-slots

  • A workshop may take 2 - 5 hours per person. ​​

  • Bookings begin from 9 am with last booking accepted at 1 pm. Each booking can accommodate a maximum of 4 participants

Please contact us directly to arrange for large group bookings.

Carve Your Own & Bring Your Own Material Options

  • Participants are expected to create their own design; their tutor will advise if the design is too complex for the student.

Bonz 'n' Stonz have two workshop experience options: Carve your own or Bring your Own

  • Carve Your Own workshop experience includes everything you need to create your special Taonga (Treasure). This includes material, tutor, use of the workshop equipment for up to 5 hours & the finishing touches to complete your Taonga (Treasure) 

  • Bring Your Own workshop experience means you bring your own materials( pre-approved by our staff- please, no quartz)

  • You have the use of our workshop and the tutor maybe available if required. Finnishing touches are extra eg. Stringing

Workshop Prices

Prices apply per person, per item carved. Additional carvings will incur extra fees.

  • $200 – Pounamu

  • $120 – Bone (Beef, Mutton, Deer Antler - resource type subject to availability)

  • $100 – Shell (Mother-of-pearl or Paua - resource type subject to availability)

  • $50 per hour – Bring Your Own Material (Pounamu, Bone, Shell, or pre-approved stone excluding quartz)

    • (String not included; additional fee applies based on requirements.)

Pounamu, Bone & Shell workshop prices include a tutor, materials for carving, and stringing.

Bring Your Own Material workshops may include limited tutor support. If full tutor guidance is required, please notify us in advance (at no extra cost).

What You Need to know

  • To make the most of your time, please come with an idea of what you’d like to create. This will help avoid long decision-making during your session.

  • Do you have a design in mind? (If not, we recommend researching beforehand for inspiration.)

  • Which material best suits your design? Bone, Pāua, or Pounamu?

What You Need to Bring

  • An idea of what you want to carve (can be discussed upon arrival).

  • A willingness to draw a basic sketch of your intended piece (this will be your own unique creation!).

  • Patience.

  • Your phone to capture your progress.

  • A happy face!

Age Requirements & Supervision

  • Children under 10 years old: May participate in polishing only.

  • Children 10 years and older: Must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

  • All participants under 18 years old: Must be actively supervised by their accompanying adult throughout the session.

Clothing Conduct & Safety Requirements

  • All visitors must follow the instructions provided by Bonz n Stonz staff.

  • Protective gear must be worn as directed.

  • Running, rough play, or disruptive behavior is not permitted in the studio.

  • Participants must respect and use tools/equipment only as instructed.

  • Suitable clothing must be worn at all times. No loose clothing that could pose a safety risk.

  • Closed-toe shoes are mandatory – no sandals or open-toed footwear.

  • Participants must follow all safety procedures as directed.​

Liability & Responsibility

  • Bonz n Stonz operates in compliance with New Zealand Health & Safety regulations.

  • Bonz n Stonz is not legally liable for injuries resulting from failure to follow safety guidelines.

  • Parents/guardians are fully responsible for their children’s safety and behavior in the studio.

  • Damage to tools, equipment, or materials due to negligence may incur repair or replacement costs.

Booking & Cancellations

  • Advance booking is recommended to secure your spot. Summer time up to 1 week in advance & Winter time 24 hours in advance.​

  • We send a confirmation email with an invoice to secure your booking.

  • NZ$40 deposit per person is required to secure your 'confirmed' booking.

  • Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 24 hours notice.

  • No-show. No refund.

Studio Rights & Discretion

  • Bonz n Stonz reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who does not adhere to these terms.

  • The studio may take photographs of participants for promotional purposes unless otherwise requested.
