At Bonz ‘N’ Stonz, we offer a hands-on carving experience that connects you to the heart of Hokitika and the rich traditions Greenstone ( NZ Jade) & carving.

Guided by skilled local carvers, you’ll shape your unique treasure from New Zealand’s finest stone, bone, or shell.

Bring your own or choose from a selection of raw materials.

From selecting your perfect piece to carving, sanding, and polishing, every step of the journey is yours to embrace.

BOOKING ENQUIRY

In this immersive experience, you'll learn about the deep significance of carving in Māori culture, design your own unique piece, and shape it with your own hands.

Choose from pounamu (jade), kōiwi (bone), or anga (shell)—each with its own story and wairua (spirit).

Take home more than just a carving—carry a connection to Aotearoa, its people, and its traditions.


MATERIALS & PRICING

Our carving experiences include all materials from start to finish, along with full tutor support.

Bone – $120

Pāua (Abalone) – $100

Pounamu (Jade, Greenstone) – $200

If you prefer, you’re also welcome to bring your own material for a Bring Your Own experience (pricing $ 50 per hour)


PLANNING YOUR CARVING

To make the most of your time, please come with an idea of what you’d like to create. This will help avoid long decision-making during your session.

Do you have a design in mind? (If not, we recommend researching beforehand for inspiration.)

Which material best suits your design? Bone, Pāua, or Pounamu?
